Situation Overview

A vessel experiencing chronic engine issues and a complete blackout had to be towed into the Port of Trincomalee under a towage contract arranged by Marine One. Immediate technical intervention was required to restore power, assess machinery condition, and prepare the vessel for onward sailing.

Emergency Response & Initial Assessment

Upon arrival, Marine One deployed certified Class 1 and Class 2 Marine Engineers along with a support crew.
The team conducted a full condition survey of:

• Main Engine

• Auxiliary Engines

• Entire machinery space

The priority was to stabilize the vessel and restore essential systems.

Power Restoration & Temporary Solutions

A hired generator was initially placed onboard the towing vessel and connected to supply emergency power.
Once critical checks were complete, the vessel’s own standby power system was successfully restored.

Auxiliary Engine Repair & Overhaul

Marine One engineers systematically worked on all three auxiliary engines, restoring them to operational condition and enabling the vessel to regain reliable electrical power.

A full major overhaul of Auxiliary Engine #2 was postponed until the voyage and assigned to a riding crew.

Main Engine Overhaul (Unit 4 & Unit 5)

A major overhaul was carried out on Main Engine Unit 4 and Unit 5.
Additional work included:

• Scavenge space cleaning

• Servicing of all stuffing boxes

• General machinery space restoration

These steps ensured the main propulsion plant was safe and ready for sea.

Voyage-Ready Completion & Riding Crew Deployment

The vessel was laden and required to sail immediately.
Marine One provided a riding engineering team to complete remaining repairs—including the major overhaul of Auxiliary Engine #2—during the voyage.

The riding team signed off in Singapore after successfully completing all assigned work.

Final Outcome

Marine One delivered a complete blackout recovery, full machinery restoration, and voyage-ready engineering solution under tight operational deadlines.
The vessel safely departed Trincomalee and continued to Singapore without further technical delays.
