Navigating the volatile maritime corridors of the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden requires more than just armed guards—it demands rigorous voyage planning, flawless regulatory compliance, and a highly disciplined tactical presence.
Marine One was contracted to provide a comprehensive maritime security solution for a 1200 TEU container vessel operating under the Liberian flag. The objective was clear: deliver a fully compliant, ISO-certified armed security escort to ensure the vessel's safe passage along the high-risk Jeddah – Aden – Jeddah route over a continuous six-month operational period, all while seamlessly supporting the vessel’s Master with risk mitigation and real-time intelligence.
The Jeddah to Aden transit cuts directly through recognized High-Risk Areas (HRA) known for elevated threats of piracy and maritime hostility. The client required a Private Maritime Security Company (PMSC) capable of operating at the highest international standards, ensuring not only the physical safety of the crew, cargo, and vessel, but also the legal protection of the shipowners through strict adherence to Flag State and Port State regulations.
To ensure an incident-free transit, Marine One executed a multi-layered security and logistics strategy.
Before the vessel ever entered the HRA, our highly trained three-man Marine One security team integrated directly with the vessel's Master. Together, they conducted a comprehensive voyage risk assessment. The team identified highly vulnerable legs of the transit route, established vessel hardening protocols, and implemented strict Marine One Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Every tactical procedure was thoroughly briefed and approved by the Master prior to commencement.
Transiting through highly regulated maritime checkpoints with weapons and security personnel requires complex legal clearances. Marine One's administrative division handled all bureaucratic approvals, securing:
The Marine One armed security team successfully embarked the container vessel from a designated Red Sea floating platform. Upon boarding, all tactical kit, weapons, and equipment were immediately secured, inventoried, and logged in strict accordance with the International Code of Conduct Association (ICoCA) standards. The team maintained a disciplined, continuous watch, integrating their Marine One SOPs flawlessly with the crew's daily operations.
A security team is only as strong as the intelligence supporting it. Throughout the six-month contract, the Marine One 24/7 Operations Room maintained a constant overwatch. We conducted formal twice-daily monitoring check-ins, providing the Master with real-time intelligence updates, regional risk alerts, and dynamic route adjustment recommendations to avoid emerging threats.
Upon the successful conclusion of the six-month contract, the Marine One security team and all tactical equipment were safely disembarked and signed off at OPL Fujairah.
The vessel completed its extensive operational schedule through the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden without a single security breach or incident.
The entire operation was executed in full compliance with ISO 28000, ISO 28007, ICoCA standards, and all Flag/Port State legal requirements.
The vessel's command commended the seamless coordination and professionalism between the Master, the crew, and the Marine One security personnel.
